Review - Rudderless

This is one of my favorite musical movie. Starred by Selena Gomez as Kate, Billy Crudup as Sam, Will Macy as the bar owner.

This movie tells about a father who found music demos in his son's room. It surprised him, cause he never know how talented his son was. Sadly, his son had passed away, killed by the police officers. Why? Because his son made a gun shot in the University library.

As parents, I could imagine how this feels. You will start everything with lots of questions, and there won't be answers for each question you throw out in the air. The last summary of everything is, I am a bad parents and had made an evil son.

The parents broke, the father move to a boat and live there. He took his son's demos and played it over and over, and finally created a band with bunch of young adults. They played his son's songs, without telling them the story behind it.

The band got famous, until one day the band, the fans, they finally know the real story. The society couldn't accept the tragedy which happens to its members, and immediately block them from social relationship. A big burden left for the whole circles of the tragedy, while the real actor is at peace in his grave.

The story not only show us to resolve which ever tragedy that happens to us, but to be consistent facing our demons. Life was never been easy, and never will.

Movie and good music in one place, it's like nirvana. I love this movie, the soundtrack, and the story. I give this movie 3.5/5 stars! Hopefully you enjoyed it, as much as I love it.

Review - Paper Towns

A book by John Green.

This is the first John Green book I read. After watching The Fault in Our Stars, I saw an article that they also going to make a movie from John Green's Paper Towns. Fall in love with The Fault in Our Stars, so I bought this book.

A more than 400 pages of book, played by two main character Margo Roth Spiegelman and Quentin Jacobson. They are friends since they were just kids, caught up with a suicide event in a park near their house.

Margo is a beautiful, weird and adventurous girl and one of the famous kids in the school. But Quentin is the geek one, calm and well planned boy. They hardly ever talk to each other again, although they could see each other from their bed room window. Well, I also experience this things, when friends somehow become stranger without any reason.

One day, Margo ask Quentin to accompanied her in an adventure, they revenge some people who treat them badly, friends who stab them in the back and old enemies. This part is so exciting, I wish I could do it to some people! Margo planned everything carefully, and finish the adventure in Sea World. It was a great night for both of them, one of the best memories you will never forget in your entire youth life.

Then, Margo disappear, nobody knows where she is. Quentin, helped by two of his best friends tries every way to find and locate her, but couldn't find her. They searched empty building, subdivisions, everywhere, and still couldn't find her.

This is one of the quotes in the book. It reminds you that when you think you know someone, but actually you're not. Then you're spending your time guessing and wondering why they were not the way they were supposed to be.

This book is interesting, simple, but still touch deep enough to create questions in your mind and heart. Though the story is about young adult, but I still love how John Green put the words in each scene.

I also wanted to watch how Cara Delevigne plays Margo Roth Spiegelman. It's going to be interesting, though I kinda hope Emma Watson to plays the role.

I give this book 3/5 stars! I give the last quotes below, because I know, we always attracted to some people and decided to be around them. No coincidence.

Review - Rush

Two individuals with their own qualities, one is Niki Lauda (Daniel Bruhl) and the playboy James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth). Not only they race, they pushed everything to the limit.

Niki Lauda is a former Winner of Grandprix in the World. James Hunt, well he never been a winner of Grandprix but he becomes the shadow of Niki Lauda. He always comes second, and waits when Niki going to made mistakes and he will take the opportunity in just seconds. They are competitor.

Niki Lauda is a man with calculation, married a beautiful wife, stick with only one woman in his career. He is the good boy with lots of achievements in his back. One day in a track race, he requested a meeting because based on his calculation, they won't make it alive in that track. The heavy rain is pouring, the track is known crazy, but all of the other racers laughs including James Hunt.

The race is still on, and Niki Lauda's car was burnt in the track. He suffered with severe injuries, burnt all over his lungs, and also he quickly replaced by someone else. One of the scene that I remember quite vividly is the moment they have to pump the blood from his lung. Its a torture, even seeing it is already a torture.

See the accident, it struck James Hunt. He realized that, he could be killed at anytime. Just a single mistakes, then he could be killed easily.

From this movie we could learn that unfortunate events that we experience bring us two options, we drown in or we fight it back and become the champion. Niki Lauda is really a role model for life, but James Hunt really know how to enjoy life.

The choice is yours in this life, everything gone with the consequences. I give this movie 3,8/4 stars!

Review - Volver

A 2006 movie starred by the beautiful Penelope Cruz, or in this movie acted as Raimunda.

A movie about family, pain and unresolved past. The movie was set in the suburb area in Spain and also some of it took place in Madrid. In a village where people know each other very well and stayed together their whole life.

Raimunda, is a mother of a teenage girl, Paula. One day, her husband Paco tries to rape her daughter, Paula defend herself and accidentally killed her father. As a mother, Raimunda couldn't let her daughter take the blame, so he hid the body in a freezer.

Slowly, the past started to show, bit by bit. Started with a mother that should've been died for years, show herself. A big surprise for her first daughter, Soledad, which apparently together with the mother hide her existence in front of Raimunda. This lead us to another question, what's behind all of their actions? Every family has their own secrets, the revealing is the painful time.

We could imagine this movie happen to one of us. Although, I felt a little bit telenovela taste in the story. The story is so common, all of the actions that the cast take is so predictable, although the end is not so predictable.

Penelope Cruz played this movie very well, with her radiant face and body, she's the flower in the whole movie. Too bad, the other cast is not as beautiful as she is, everyone looks dull next to her. She's so perfect with the colorful skirts, shirts, but the rest of the crew is too common and it made them looks less interesting.

A good friend recommend me this movie, and this movie give me an insight about Spanish people. How they kiss like they meant it, and show their affection towards other people. Though I know the story from the first place, but somehow it didn't spoil the whole thing. It was good movie, but not my kind of taste probably.

I give this movie 3/5 stars!

Review - Avengers Age of Ultron

This might be one of the most waited movie of the year. After the first success, well a sequel of success is expected. The movie theaters plays this movie in more than two studios. Movie lovers or not, they all come to join the hype of the superheroes.

The current avengers share about the human or we may say the weak side of superheroes. All of them has fears, they all have the dark side in their past, just like any human being in this earth. When the fear emerge from their subconscious, they were forced to take a step back to conquer it.

Hawkeye as the weakest of the superheroes shows his perfect life. A family, a house, a perfect kind of life. I feel like, Joss Whedon, the director wish to show his audience about the soft side of the superheroes. Being weak doesn't mean you will lose in battles, but strength could also be developed from your weaknesses. I think that was part of the messages of this movie.

Romance was part of the show, black widow and hulk is quite a pair. Even monsters know how to love and be loved. Awkward in some scenes, but I guess its fine.

The avengers won't be much of a show if the villain is not around. The villain was built accidentally by the genius Tony Stark named Ultron. It generates over and over again perfecting it self, and also builts an army of metals. They wish to diminished human being and changed it to the world of metals. As simple as that. With a little bit of twist added by the Maximoff twins.

Compares to the first Avengers, its like comparing bread and butter for me. Very different, and each of the sequel has their own characteristics. If you wish to see the strong side of superheroes then you will loved the first one. This sequel is still entertaining but not much of a thrill like the first one. So, for the entertaining side, I gave 3,3 stars of 5 stars!
