Movie Review - The Nun

One of the most anticipated movie in 2018, The Nun. After the successful movie of Conjuring, and if you like horror movie, this is one of the must see movie.

Cast by Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene and Demian Bichir as Father Burke, and Jonas Bloquet as Frenchie. If you're one of the American Horror Story follower, you must have know Taissa Farmiga very well.

In 1950's deep in the romanian woods, there's a monastery of St. Carta. Placed in a castle, it was a very big convent, with lots of cemeteries on the outside. One of the interesting thing of the cemeteries is the bell hanging on each of the grave. Well, what is a horror movie without the cemetery? You will find out how the bell works after watching the movie.

Back to the main cast, Sister Irene and Father Burke was assigned by the Vatican to investigate the murder in the St Carta monastery. As we all know, every investigation must under the knowledge of the Vatican. So, Sister Irene and Father Burke met Frenchie, the boy who found the body that hanging in front of the door of the monastery.

To investigate they have to stay at the lodge near the monastery, and it doesn't take long before the ghosts lure them to the convent, where the real actions wait.

For me, The Nun is quite horrific, the dark sets, the cemeteries, the convent, it just perfect set for a horror movie. Maybe after this movie you will see nuns differently, especially after sunsets. The only thing that annoys me is the ending. I thought the execution in the end will be grand, but unfortunately my expectations was too high. After all the horrific actions at the beginning and in the middle, the ending was quite too fast. Valak felt less evil and scary.

But, maybe that's just me. Compared to Conjuring, this is like soup with less salt. Almost perfect, but there's something missing at the end. The Nun get 3/5 stars for me.

Watch the movie, and let me know if you find this movie quite horrific or not at the comment below!

Movie Review - Searching (2018)

This is one of the most talked about movie lately. No big posters here and there, no big budget marketing in TV, malls or any kind of the usual thing we see. I never know about this movie too until one of my favorite twitter dude shares about this movie, then it caught my attention.

Searching, made only 15,566,043 USD world wide according to IMDB, with also scores 7,9/10 in IMDB. So, if you're looking for a new movie to watch this weekend, well, this could be it.

Starred by John Cho as David Kim, a father that has a perfect family. A beautiful wife and a daughter. Until cancer took his wife, and the family changed into a distant relationship. This is very common, when the glue is missing, the relationship became distant. One day, David was face timing his daughter about the house chores, and ask her daughter to do it as soon as possible. The next morning, he found out that her daughter never came home from her study group.

This movie will enlight you, if ever one of your family member or your loved ones ever missing. But don't forget, the more you dig, the more secrets revealed.

David thought he knew his daughter, he thought he knew her daily life, her favorite places, her favorite friends. But the moment his daughter is missing, he realized he knew nothing about her.

This movie is filled with lots of details, like a puzzle, one by one is crafted into one big picture. The best thing that I love about Searching is the plot twist is great. Just when you thought you already figure it out, there's always surprises at the corner. Tailored into a great big picture this movie is definitely worth to watch.

I don't want to spoil the story much, cause it will ease the surprises. Before you watch it, delete all your thoughts, follow all the cues, and enjoy the storyline.

This is one of the best storyline in a movie I have watched this year, so I give Searching 4/5 stars. If you have watch the movie, share your thoughts with me in the comments below.
