Review - 47 Ronin

One of the movies at the end of 2013. Next to Hobbit, this movie is kind of asking me persistently to watch it. Starred by Keanu Reeves as Kai, Hiroyuki Sanada as Oishi, Rinko Kikuchi as Mizuki and also Kou Shibasaki as Mika.
This movie was sets in the 18th century where Shogun ruled Japan. In the land of Ako, a prosperous province, ruled by the Asano clan with his only child, Mika. They saved a half breed child, Kai, and Kai felt owe the Asano clan his life and swore to protect them in any way.
Since Ako is a prosperous land, there other lords whose intent to take Ako from the Asano clan. So, Lord Kira helped by a witch planned to take over Ako and become the ruler in the whole Japan.
The story goes, where finally lord Asano committed sepukku or we known as harakiri and left her daughter alone and forced by the current Shogun to married Lord Kira. All of the Asano samurais where shattered, and Oishi as the leader of the samurais were dumped to a pit for a year. After Oishi left the pit, he gathered all the samurai, including Kai for his skills and also his knowledge of witch craft. They sneak in to lord Kira's castle and the battle with lord Kira won by Oishi. The good finally won, and the bad loose.
I must warn you, that this is not a happy ending movie. The set looks like Japan, but somehow I can't feel the japan aura along the movie, I don't really know what's missing since I've never been to Japan. Keanu Reeves plays his role very well, as a samurai his act is undeniably marvelous. Hate the ending very much, but I guess it's OK. Seen the score in imdb.com and they give 6,8 /10 for this movie, and I guess I will also give this movie 3/5, since it's just an OK movie, really below my expectation.

Review - The Hobbit - Desolation of Smaug

If you haven't watch the previous of the Hobbit, you might kind of lost in this movie. Since this sequel is so related with the first one.
We still see the adventure of the dwarfs (Thorin, Nori, Bifur, Kili, Fili, Bombur-myfavourite,Oin, Balin, Bofur, Dori, Dwalin, Gloin, Ori) and surely Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf. My husband said, this movie shouldn't be titled as the hobbit since dwarves played the main lead. I think he forgot that there's still Bilbo in the picture who act bravely and creatively.
The movie starts with Gandalf meets with Thorin, this is the first step of the adventure. After the first plot, it moves directly to the real story of the whole entourage. The whole entourage is going to the lonely mountain, since they are chased by Azog the Orc, they are running and bump to beorn a shape-changer. Since they are still chased by Orcs, they decided to go through Mirkwood, a weird forest with creatures creeping in it. But Gandalf decided to go to other place, minus Gandalf the entourage walks through the forest.
In the forest, the entourage was captivated by giant spiders but thanks to Bilbo and the ring, he saves most of them from the giant spiders. The Elf get in the scene since Mirkwood is their teritory, finally the dwarves n bilbo was captivated again by the Elfs. Lots of captivation in this movie I suppose :).
Finally there are love spices in the movie, where one of the Elf , Tauriel was somehow attached to Kili. How I wish there are more love scene between these two....ahhhh
Anyway, the entourage finally get away from Rivendell and finally made it to the lake town and become near to the lonely mountain. They got help from Bard, if you have watched ER before, Bard is Dr. McSteamy ;P. Hawtttt alert ladiesssssssssssss...added with Thorin, this movie is full of hawt guysss.
The movie ended with most of the dwarves and Bilbo finally made it to Erebor and get in to Durin Kingdom. Bilbo once again show his smartness and creativity in facing Smaug the Dragon who guard all of the treasures. I really likes Bilbo in this movie, the title of the Hobbit is dedicated to him I supposed, because he plays the role of the burglar very well.
The ending is cut in the right place, makes you wonder what will happen next. Anyway, I think I have to see this movie 2-3 times again, like most of the previous movies, we have to watch it more to understand more.
I rate this movie 4,5/5, a must see movie and cant wait for the next one!

Review - 2 Guns

Why do i choose to watch this movie? It's because there's Denzel in it. I love his act since I watched Man On Fire, he played with Dakota Fanning. Although I haven't watch all of his movies, but he's kinda the main factor to watch a movie.
So, this movie cast by Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg, a dynamic duo whose trying to save the world.
Started with accidentally the dynamic duo whom they found out later that rob a bank to lure a king pin to the prison. It becomes back fire, since the bank they rob is actually owned by the CIA. The action cost them their safety, since all the bad guys in the neighborhood is searching for the money they owned. It also costs Denzel's girlfriend - Paula Patton, although I don't know if she's fit for the role, since the outcome is quite a surprised.
Anyway, Denzel and Mark finally set a plan to meet up with all the bad guy. Then he drove all the money to the place, and let them fight for the money which end up he blew the cars loaded with cash.
The story is not deep, this might be an easy act for both of them I figured, since the storyline is so-so. Some kind of entertaining kind of movie, nothing more. It's fun to watch and it's not hard to understand.
I give this movie 7/10!

Review - The Conjuring

This might be one of the best horror movie I've ever seen. The tension is rising and never stopped from the very first beginning. Not quite a fan of horror movie, but somehow I'm curious about this movie.
The story is about family who moved from the city to the outskirt area to start a fresh new life. What they didn't know is the house they live in is haunted.
This family- the Davison do not believe in religion. So all of the children is not baptized and the family never pray either, without no belief at all gives great benefits to the demon. If you don't have a religion or belief, this might be the right time for you to start finding one :P (just kidding).
The Demon is an ex witch that murder his 7 days son and serve it as a tribute to the devil, and afterwards she hang herself and condemned the land.
The situation is pictured beautifully in the movie, every detail of sound and voice will hypnotized you. The actors play their act greatly especially the children, all of the four Davison girls.
I'm going to stop right here and let you watch the movie and tell me how you feel :). I'm going to give this movie 3,5 / 5 stars!

Review - Now You See Me

After  a while, I finally could watch this movie after hearing all of my friends comment that this is the must see movie.
Starred by Jesse Eisenberg that you may have know him from Facebook-the movie, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fischer and the cutie pie Dave Franco.
All of the actors I said above is magicians, they all great magicians with their specific talents and they all called the 4 horsemen. In their first show, they give a spectacular show to their audience that they could rob a bank and also share the money to the audience. In their second performance they also rob someone and also give it to the audience. The final question is How did they do that?? Magic?
You will never get bored with the idea in this movie, the screenplay is great, the actor is good especially the yum guy Dave Franco ;p.
This movie is one of the best movie so far in 2013. Added to all the sugar coated words I put above is the best actor on earth Morgan Freeman. Morgan Freeman played as Thaddeus Bradley,  he is one of the magician that will help the police by showing them all of the tricks played by the 4 horsemen. But do the 4 horsemen get caught?? You better watch this movie.
With all the intense, great actors, great screenplay, I give this movie 4/5 stars!

Review-The Breaking Dawn Part Two

It's kind of late on giving this review right? Since the movie has been played quite sometime, if I'm not mistaken maybe last year. Since tonight, I have a chance to watch a movie somehow I chose to watch Breaking Dawn part two, wondering what will happen to the couple.
The casts is all the same, there are still Bella, Edward, Jacob and also The Cullens. Never liked Edward since his facial expression is fake to me and kind of weak, not really a fan of Jacob either. The only man that got my interest is emmet, not because of his big body but because of his character is more soft and protective sides that was shown in the movie.
This movie was a sequel, the story starts with Bella's new experience as a Vampire. She grew very strong and quite different from all of the previous movies. I'm not also a fan of Bella, if you asked me she's kind of awkward. The new Bella with her daughter, Reneesme was out walking when someone watch them jumping catching snow flake. It's breaking the law when you have a child that's immortal since children could not keep secrets. So, that someone report to the Volturi that the Cullens has broken the law.
If you haven't watched the previous movies I'll explain about the Volturi. The Volturi is similar as the royal family in the world of Vampire, they were brothers Aro, Caius and Marcus three of them rule the world vampire with the guard. The peak level of this movie is when the Volturi initiate to attack the Cullens.
In my humble opinion this is the best part of all the twilight saga! Well played and the story line is greater than the rest of the saga.
Kind of interesting? I'm giving this movie 3,5 /5 stars!

Review - The Host

I've been looking at this movie review for quite some time. When I have the chance to watch it, then I certainly do.

Anyway, this movie was based from a novel written by Stephanie Meyer. Who doesn't know Stephanie Meyer?? The famous writer who wrote the Twilight Saga, I'm guessing all of you have watched all of the saga. 

So is this movie kind of similar with Twilight Saga? In my opinion, it's almost similar but in different point of view. Its better than twilight saga, since twilight saga feels too much teen spirit, in the book and also in the movie. The host is more mature, solemn and the story line felt more serious. Yes, I like The Host much better than Twilight saga.

The set of the movie was taken in the future, where real human being has become extinct. Most of the human being has been replaced by a creature coming from other planets. The creature called also The Souls was placed in the human body by The Seeker, and the Seeker become the ruler of the world at that time. 

Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan) was one of the rebellion who against the placement of The Souls in the human body, melanie than captured by the seeker and The Souls named Wanderer was put inside of her body. This is where the adventure begun. 

The movie was not an emotional one, but it is quite entertaining. Especially when all of the rebellion in their hiding place, the scenery was beautiful. 

The cast was young and beautiful, although I kind of annoyed with Diane Kruger act, somehow I feel she's kind of misfit between all of the casts. 

I give this movie 3,5/5 stars!

Review - The Big Wedding

I've watched this movie on a bus on my way home from the office. This is my first movie in a bus if I may say. Anyway, this movie is full of great actors and actresses as you could see in the picture. Robert De Niro (Donald), Diane Keaton (Ellie), Robin Williams (Father Moynahan), Susan Sarandon (Bebe), Katherine Heigl (Lyla), Amanda Seyfried (Missy), Paul Rudd (Jared) and the groom- Alejandro, whom I don't know his real name, please forgive me.
In line with the title of the movie, this movie tells about a wedding, as you know wedding means not only the bride and the groom but also both families. Like any other weddings, problem shows after all the families united. Even minutes before the wedding, problems still occur. The Griffin is gifted with two children (Lyla & Jared), but in the end they adopted alejandro to the family, and this is Alejandro's wedding.
The problem started when all of the family members gathers, the real problem shows when Alejandro's biological mother wish to come to the wedding. A latin woman whose known with her believes makes Alejandro confused to introduce her to his family.
Before the wedding there has also problems in the family, and this wedding somehow makes them realize the value of a family. Father & daughter finally work out their issues, bestfriends finally talks about their heart, everything about working things for the sake of your loved ones.
I personally love this movie there are things in this movie that touch my heart and there are also things that makes me laugh. Hopefully for those of you who watch this movie could enjoy it as much as I do.
I rated this movie 3,5/5 stars!

Review - Parker

Anyway, I watched this movie because I see one of the main actor is Jason Statham, maybe I'm not the biggest fans but I always have time for his movies. Parker was played by Jason Statham (Parker), Jennifer Lopez (Leslie Rogers), Michael Chiklis (Melander), and also Nick Nolte (Hurley).

Actually I'm not quite satisfied with this movies, since it's seem so generic. Statham in action movie was nothing much to expect, just like this movie. If I want  to compare this movie to Crank, the story line of Crank is so much better than Parker.
The story started with Parker have a relationship with Hurley's daughter, Parker is a thief but a decent thief. He doesn't like killing, etc some kind of a conscious thief if I may say :). Anyway, Hurley put an agreement to handle a robbery project for Parker and team him up with a bunch of robbers. They put a robbery scheme and the scheme turn out quite successful. So, the robber team want to  deal another humongous project with Parker, but he have to decide right on the spot. Since Parker rejected the feud begun and the shooting scene begun. This is where the conflict begun, the trigger for the whole movie.
Parker went to Miami to chase the robbers who take his shares and this is where he met Leslie Rogers a property sales. Leslie who is broke, tries to involve in the business and almost get her self killed.
This movie is a very typical Statham movie, shot here and there, fight here and there, wounded here and there, only a slight differ in the end. But, I still love Jason Statham though so I give this movie 2,3/5 stars!

Review - Broken City

This is the second russel crowe movie I've watched in 3 days. Broken city, starred by Mark Wahlberg as Billy Taggart and Russel Crowe as Nicholas Hostetler and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Cathleen Hostetler.

The movie started with Billy Taggart's trial for murder, and he was released because of the reason self defense . The movie rolls again about Billy's relationship with a girl named Natalia Barrow, who turns up to be the sister of the girl he proclaimed to defend on the first place.
Well, I thought it was going to be politics, filled with intrigue here and there, but it's not as deep as I expected.
Even though there are political issues, but it was something we expected. Everyone kept the secret of everybody so they could use it in time. In the movie, I am amazed with Catherine Zeta-Jones' beauty, she's one of the kind. She really steals the attention with her elegance , maybe because I haven't watch her movie in a very long time, but she did well in this movie.
At the end, everybody paid their price for their sins. Not much surprise as I thought it's going to be, but it's an OK movie I think.
I give this movie 3/5 stars!

Review - Man of Steel

I watch man of steel last saturday, with my son and husband. I know it was kinda late to watch this movie, since the studio played it for over a week now.

I never really liked Superman, this might be the first time I really watch Superman movie. I'm not really a fan of him, I watch other superhero movie but somehow I got lost when it's about Superman.
Man of Steels starred by Henry Cavill, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Kevin Costner as Clark's Father, and also Diane Lane as Clark's Mother, and also Russel Crowe as Jor-El.
I called this movie full, because there's so much to take in for more than 2 hours. The movie describe how Kal-El/Clark Kent born, and then his parents move him to the earth because their planets is going to blow. I really like Russel Crowe's act as Jor-El, he really think thoroughly, very anticipative. He really predict everything, even in the future, this is the fun part.
Anyway, like a normal human being, Kal-El also suffer from self identification, since he's quite different from other human being. His  father told him to keep his differentiation low, since human being doesn't really except differentiation. As you'll see from all of Superman's movie, he has a very loving family this also shown in Man of Steel. A loving parents, a down to earth people and it helps him to find the right path.
I'm kinda annoyed with Amy Adams, somehow I feel she's not the right match for Henry Cavill, they don't look like a pair. I keep on comparing Amy Adams with Teri Hatcher. But, her act is quite good even though the chemistry between them is kind of forced.
In all of superheroes movie there's always a blow here and there, you could see it here too. The whole city is blown away, the special effect is very good, they could picture the machine and the blowing thing in a perfect way.
Over all this is quite a good movie, my son likes it, my husband likes this movie more than Iron Man 3. But, I still think this movie is too tight..too many things to absorb in 2 hours, is it because my brain is full with things?? I really don't know XD.
I give this movie 3,5/5 stars!

Review- Life of Pi

The movie is based on a book by Yann Martel with the same title "Life of Pi". I haven't read the book, so I can't compare it with the movie, so I will stick my review only with the movie.
The movie in my opinion is about survival, about believing in ourself in any circumstances.
The movie was starred by Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, and also the bengal tiger. The movie is about a boy, Piscine Molitor - named by his father after a swimming pool in Paris. With that kind of name, Piscine always become a joke by his school friends, so he changed his name with Pi - a mathematical constant ratio for a circle.
Pi grew up in a zoo, his father was the owner of the zoo. One day, the zoo who used the city park was asked again by the local government, so they have no choice but moved to Canada. This is where the real story start.
The story start when the ship they used was sank, and Pi was left alone in a small boat with a bengal tiger named Harry Parker. If it was me, maybe I have become the bones stranded in the sea. Pi was stranded in the sea with Harry Parker for about 2 months, could you imagine that?? Finally the boy and the bengal tiger made a pact that they will respect each other territory, and become family since there was nothing left besides them. Pi, will placed plastic container so when the rain comes they could filled the container with water. He will also do the fishing, so both of them could eat. A very amazing survival mode, Pi is extremely creative and devoted to Harry Parker. There was one scene where he hijacked the boat and let Harry Parker stranded in the sea, and from that moment on they realized that they only have each other.
The movie was great, the scenery in the ocean was beautifully shown along the movie, I enjoyed the scenery very much. After I watch the movie, I realized how small I am in this whole universe, and how lucky I am. Suraj Sharma shown the depression, the giving up moment, the fighting, the sadness of loosing your whole family and the reviving moment very well.
This is one of the must see movie, I give this movie 4/5 stars!

Review - Saving General Yang

Saving General Yang is a movie casted by : Adam Cheng, Ekin Cheng, Vic Chou, etc. A movie about family, honor, loyalty and spirit. The story itself is based upon a true story, this will be seen at the last of the movie.
General Yang is a famous general in the country, known from all of his achievement in winning wars and the emperor also respect him. General Yang has 7 sons, the 6-7 son never been to war before. The 6th son built a relationships with princess chai, but somehow the emperor put an arranged married between princess chai and prince Yan, this will be one of the milestone in the movie, kind of think of it, its quite similar with troy.
Anyway, a war broke and General Yang is ordered to lead in the front field of the war to face the Khitan Klan. He was cornered and badly injured, so his wife come to well known teacher to ask for his advise and the teacher said " 7 sons will go, 6 will comeback" , and this will be the question runs in my head while watching this movie.
This movie will teach us about loyalty, loyal to your family and your country. How we respect our parents, and see our parents as our role model. General Yang and his wife is a successful parents, they successfully teach their sons to become a respectful person and also love their brothers dearly. With 7 sons you can imagine there will be lots of characters, each of the son characters shown in the movie quite well, they all have their talents and passions.
One of the best mandarin movie I've seen, my eyes pampered with beautiful pictures and scenery in the movie. Although I think there are still lack of emotions played, but this movie is quite entertaining.
I give this movie 3,5/5 stars!

Review - Hyde Park On Hudson

As you can see in the picture this movie is about a well known President of USA - Franklin D Roosevelt (FDR). Starred by Bill Murray and Laura Linney, this movie is a slow drama. I never really like a slow drama, but somehow I manage watching this movie to the end.
FDR is a president who lives in his mother house, so this movie is filled with lots of women. It tells about all of the women around FDR , based on FDR diary found under his bed as it told in the end of the story.
Laura Linney acted as Daisy, a sweet country girl whom never know man before and she is one of FDR long cousins, and she has replaced the other cousins which somehow doesn't quite fit in the house in Hudson.

When Daisy was called to the house in Hudson she was thrilled and as the years go by Daisy and FDR had a grown relationships. FDR had a wife, which is eleanor and she lives in different house, but they seems to manage a good relationship.
The great essence that filled this movie is when the royal family of England came to visit FDR in Hudson, and somehow a problem come up and they have to choose to carry on or stand still in their ground. This movie will tell you that everything you see could be an illusion. A good boy is not always a good boy, and you have to see beyond what you see or you will be destroyed in your expectation.
You will see that people will always have options in their lives, and after taking the options you have to live with the consequences.
For a slow drama, I give this movie 3/5 stars!

Review - iron man 3

Watch this movie with couple of friends from work. There were 7 of us, 3women and 4 men. Anyway, i think i've watch Iron Man 1 and 2 but I really couldn't remember the story or maybe I never watch it before, going to find out if I can find the movie again.
Anyway, the story is about Tony Stark adventure, as always. The story tells about the demon that Tony creates about ten years before, and as a human being he doesn't realize that he has created demons. The demon he created eventually terrorize the whole world by creating a massive bomb explosion around the world. The enemy also hits one of Tony's close friend and also take pepper as a hostage. Tony's maturity and soft spot is one of the things highlighted in this movie, his panic attack is also highlighted in the movie as part of his human being. Every human being has their own problem, and only his/her.self that should conquer the problem to be a full winner.
Our eyes will be pampered with all the high-tech that Tony stark has, the special effect is also good. I also felt that the movie feels lighter than the others since there are lots of jokes and comedy along the movie, you won't feel like watching a two hours movie.
Tomorrow perhaps I would watch the.movie.again with son, if there are thins I forgot to mention in this blog, I would edit it on monday xp.
I give this movie 3,8 / 5 stars!

Review - My Week With Marilyn

This film were starred by Michelle Williams, you must know her from Dawson's Creek, it was a boom in my generation XD. The male actor is Eddie Redmayne, one of the actor in the mini series of Pillars Of the Earth, her innocent face kind of take my heart.
Anyway this movie talked about the process of making one of Marilyn Monroe's famous movie, The Prince and The Showgirl. Marilyn Monroe is a difficult movie star, who had bad mood and really have problems with self esteem. People who worked with her started complaining about her attitude since the movie become delayed because of her attitude and it got worse when she found out about her husband's writing. You will see in the movie that Marilyn is a woman with lots of doubt and attitude that irritating. I really don't know if she is really like that or did Michelle Williams acted so bad, the personality of Marilyn Monroe annoys me very much. Anyway, Eddie Redmayne acted as Colin Clark, the third assistant of the director who catch Marilyn's eyes and become one of her slaves. I like how Eddie Redmayne's act, he play the role very well and the naive of younghood played subtly along the movie. It's michelle williams that annoys me, somehow everything looks very artificial, how she talks, how she moves, I really wish another actress should cast for her role.
But I really suggest you should watch the movie, perhaps you would have different opinion from mine.
I give this movie 2,5 / 5 stars.

Review - Seven Psychopaths

A story about a writer who wish to write about 7 psychopaths and end up surrounded with all of them. The lead actor, Colin Farrel (Martin) is stuck with his writing, and his relationship with a girl named Kaya is also in the edge of breaking up because of his drinking habit. Martin has a buddy named Billy, who volunteer himself to help him writing the story.
One by one the psychopath turn out in the movie, and as a psychopath you must prepared with all the vicious and also the violence they showing. If you have seen the movie Saw, this kind of the lower version of it. You will see blood splattered everywhere, slaying here and there, especially on the scene of zachariah (one of the psychopath).
What come out from me after I watch the movie is they are just lonely people, and somehow people can turn into psychopath in just times. Even the sweetest thing you find can somehow turn out to be one of them.
I find this movie is a dark comedy, not really amused with all of the actors although the director has slip some romance here and there.
I give this movie 2,5/5 stars!

Review - Lawless

After a few times of interruption, i finally could watch lawless last night and end it. This movie based on true story written by  Matt Bondurant "The Wettest Country in the World". A story about brotherhood, the oldest is Forrest casted by Tom Hardy, Howard casted by Gary Oldman and Jack casted by Shia Labeouf.
The Bondurant family is a bootlegger or moonshiner, they have a pub and still factory up in the mountain in the city of Franklin. It was a decade of corruption, mafia shooting each other and somehow the wave of corruption hit the town. The corrupted and evil officers force the bondurants and other bootleggers to pay them money or they will destroy their business, this is where the story started.
The movie have some vivid scene of slaying and violent actions, so I advised you who don`t like to watch that kind of scene should skip this movie from your Agenda. Back to the movie, it will allow you to reminisce the story of your family, your family values, how annoying can your brothers/sisters be but somehow you managed to get over it all.
Every actor and actress plays great in this movie, the score from bootleggers plays perfectly along the way. I must give Jessica Chastain who played Maggie a  great credit since she plays very well with the elegant gesture, and how she loved Forrest very much. She's one of the main attraction of this movie. This is the first time I saw her act, and now I'm dying to watch zero dark thirty, hopefully I could see it sometimes this week.
Enjoying the movie in every inch of the movie, I give this movie a credit of 3,5/5 stars!

Review - Silver Lining Playbook

Mungkin review ini agak sedikit terpengaruh dengan hasil review yang saya lihat di detik, mohon maaf sebelumnya karena saya lupa siapa penulis review tersebut.

Saya menonton film ini sepotong-sepotong, yang saya maksud dengan sepotong-sepotong adalah beberapa bagian saya tonton di hari yang berbeda :D. Semoga tidak mempengaruhi penilaian saya akan film ini.
Film ini di bintangi oleh Bradley Cooper dan Jennifer Lawrence. Saya sudah beberapa kali menonton film Bradley Cooper, namun Jennifer Lawrence baru pada film Hunger Games, itupun saya agak telat nontonnya.
Anyway, film ini berkisah tentang dua manusia yang bisa di bilang punya kekurangan psikologis. Bradley Cooper (Pat) sempat menghabiskan waktunya beberapa saat di salah satu RSJ, demikian juga dengan Jennifer Lawrence (Tiffany). Ketika kedua pesakitan berusaha mengobati luka batin di dalam hati mereka dengan caranya sendiri, dan terlihat begitu indah. Bagaimana Pat berusaha sekali mengendalikan emosinya, dan bagaimana Tiffany terlihat begitu dewasa dan ternyata dia sangat cerdas sekali. Nikki merencanakan beberapa plot untuk mendekatkan diri dengan Pat, dan pada akhirnya hal tersebut meyakinkan Pat bahwa Tiffany adalah yang terbaik untuknya.
Film ini berdasarkan atas sebuah buku dengan judul yang sama, karangan dari Matthew Quick, mungkin saya harus membaca bukunya untuk mendapatkan feel yang sebenarnya. Biasanya film yang di adaptasi dari buku kurang bisa menggambarkan totalitas yang ada di sebuah buku. Film ini pun di dukung beberapa Aktor yang sudah jaminan mutu seperti Robert De Niro yang berperan sebagai ayah Pat, and he plays it really well. Dalam satu scene dimana Robert De Niro meminta Pat untuk menghabiskan waktu dengannya supaya mereka menjadi dekat, itu salah satu scene yang berkesan buat saya. Emosi yang tergambarkan sangat baik sekali dan dapat dirasakan.
Pada akhirnya banyak yang bisa melihat potensi yang besar dari Jennifer Lawrence sehingga akhirnya dia bisa mendapatkan oscar untuk film ini. Bradley Cooper pun bermain sangat baik, mungkin ini baru pertama kali dia berakting sebagai seorang yang biasa saja, tidak seperti hangover yang banyak menampilkan sisi kegantengannya saja.
Di akhir cerita mengingatkan kita bahwa kita masing-masing mempunyai kekurangan dan kita akan selalu berusaha untuk menutupi atau menampilkan yang terbaik untuk orang yang kita sayangi. Pada akhirnya kita pun akan selalu berusaha untuk mencari orang-orang yang bisa menerima kekurangan kita, tanpa mengurangi rasa cinta yang telah ada.
I give this movie 3,8 / 5 stars..silahkan ditonton, dan buktikan apakah Anda merasakan dengan yang apa saya rasakan?

Anyway, this is just a typical comedy movie. Starred by Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fischer, Lizzie Caplan and James Marsden. The movie is about a long time friend who visits their friends wedding.
As ussual in every kind of friendship, there are different kind of people. The drug addict, the idiot, the smart ass and the common people, i forget the name of their group but it started with a B.
Anyway, this is the kind of movie that after you watch it, you won't remember any of it, in my opinion. Since after I watch the movie, nothing much i remember about the story of the movie.
Anyway, if you're feeling kind of bored and need something to ease the boredom, this movie should fit XD.
I gave this movie 2,5/5 stars!

Review - The Possession

Di sore hari, kebetulan suami lagi keluar kota dan bingung mau ngapain, akhirnya saya memutuskan untuk menonton film ini. Kata seorang teman, film ini tidak lah terlalu menyeramkan seperti film horor lainnya.

Film berdurasi hampir 2 jam ini dibintangi oleh Jeffrey Dean Morgan sebagai Clyde Brenek, mungkin banyak yang mengenalnya pada film Supernatural sebagai ayah Dean dan Sam. Sementara untuk bintang utamanya adalah Natasha Calis sebagai Emily.
Possession atau mungkin dalam bahasa Indonesia di kenal dengan istilah 'kesurupan', dimana kesurupan tersebut dialami oleh si bungsu dari sebuah keluarga yang kedua orangtuanya sudah bercerai. Kesurupan tersebut bermula ketika si anak membeli sebuah kotak pada sebuah garage sale yang tidak sengaja mereka lewati. Kotak tersebut sangat menarik buat si anak, dan seperti telah di duga di dalam kotak tersebut terdapat sesuatu makhluk halus yang pada akhirnya merasuki anak tersebut. Mungkin yang bisa di tarik dari film tersebut adalah bagaimana si ayah begitu berjuang untuk anak-anaknya, memperhatikan polah dan tingkah laku anaknya sehingga pada saat perubahan terjadi dia sudah menyadari bahwa sesuatu telah berubah dan ada sesuatu yang tidak baik terjadi. Bahkan si ayah rela berkorban menggantikan anaknya menjadi host atau wadah dari makhluk tersebut. Salah satu yang menarik dari film ini juga adalah bagaimana si pendeta Yahudi pada saat melakukan pengusiran roh jahat atau exorcism, dengan tinggi badan yang diatas rata-rata dia terus-menerus mengeluarkan rapalan mantra untuk mengusir makhluk jahat tersebut. Seperti film-film happy ending lainnya, makhluk tersebut berhasil di usir dan kembali ke kotaknya. Tapi ternyata film tersebut tidak berakhir begitu saja, karena ada kejutan lainnya di akhir cerita.
Untuk ukuran film horor, film ini mungkin termasuk yang tidak horor XD , saya sama sekali tidak ketakutan ataupun membayangkan film ini pada saat memasuki kamar gelap atau toilet. Kesan yang tertancap dalam kepala saya hanyalah soal keluarga, soal pengorbanan seorang ayah.
Saya menilai film ini 3 / 5stars. Kalau ingin menonton dengan keluarga juga boleh, karena anak saya tidak takut pada saat menonton film ini XD.

The Impossible, starred by Naomi Watts and Ewan Mcgregor . A story about a family, a movie that will shock us and also as a reminder that we are part of a family.
How often did you hug your children? your wife? your husband? your parents? your brother? your sister? Have you lost one of the member of your family? Are you a happy family or an unhappy family?
The movie started in an isolated place of a beach resort in Thailand. A happy family are taking their vacation, the parents and also the children. The first day, they played at the beach, it was christmas and they were opening their christmas gift. At the second day, in a beautiful sunny day, the tsunami wave come and make everything literally shattered.
The family were divided, everything was just chaotic. You don't know which direction to go since everything was just a big pile of mess, you don't know who to ask, cause everybody was injured and dead bodies are lying everywhere. Then what should you do?
The movie was about hope, survival and in the end, in every darkest moment of your life, family is all the strength you've got. A mother could bear all the pain she has after seeing his son, a father could walk a thousand miles just trying to find his wife and children.
This was a great movie , the cast played their character very well. I am fascinated with Tom Holland (lucas), I give him all my thumbs for his appearance in this movie. I watched this movie with my little family, and feeling very grateful for having this family of mine.
I give this movie 4,5 / 5 stars.

Review - About Cherry

Seperti biasa saya selalu mendapatkan film-film dari seorang teman, sampai kadang-kadang saya tidak tahu film itu mengenai apa. Berikut ini adalah film mengenai seorang perempuan yang bernama 'cherry'.

Film ini dibintangi oleh Ashley Hinshaw, James Franco dan Dev Patel. Film ini berjalan agak lambat, dan banyak sekali materi dewasa di dalamnya, tolong jangan menonton dengan anak anda.
Anyway, film ini bercerita tentang 'cherry' , seorang anak yang lahir dalam keluarga berantakan. Seorang Ibu yang pesakitan dan kecanduan alkohol, seorang adik perempuan yang nyaris tidak pernah bicara dan seorang ayah yang juga alkoholik. Keluarga mereka adalah keluarga miskin, tinggal di apartemen kecil yang sempit. Cherry berumur 18 tahun, dan akhirnya mencari pekerjaan untuk membantu keuangan keluarga. Sayangnya Cherry bergaul dengan orang-orang yang salah, dan mungkin juga di himpit oleh kebutuhan keuangan akhirnya cherry pun bekerja sebagai pemain film porno. Klimaksnya terjadi ketika cherry merasa tidak dimengerti oleh orang-orang sekitarnya, dan akhirnya ada seseorang yang mengerti dengan keadaannya, namun menurut saya dia hanya mengambil kesempatan saja.
Anyway, film ini dangkal dan tidak terlalu dalam. Shooting film porno pun di paparkan terlalu banyak, dengan ending yang menurut saya agak aneh.
imdb.com memberi nilai 4,6 untuk film ini, saya masih cukup baik hati dengan memberikan nilai 5/10.

Will we ever get through this?

Sometimes I questioned my self, will I ever passed the wedding phase. After more than 7 years of marriage, I feel like I still can't figure out about my husband. Maybe I know all about his routine, his habits, but everything that come and go in our life especially when problems come along, I don't get him.
These 2 days, I was faced with the confession of fellow married friend. The conclusion? They also facing the same problem, sometimes they can't stand about their spouse. The spouse's attitude makes them bitter, angry and also sad. The worst part, they are sorry they get married . Did every married people really experience these things?
Saya pernah berkata kepada seorang teman, untuk mencintai seseorang kita harus 'penuh'dulu. Gelas tidak akan bisa luber bila tidak penuh. Tapi apakah sekarang kondisi saya masih 'penuh'? Saya bisa menjawab, tidak tahu. Apakah saya masih mencintai dan menyayangi suami saya? Masih, bagaimanapun dia adalah salah satu bagian dalam hidup saya yang istimewa. Lalu kenapa semua rasa kesal, marah dan sedih bisa terjadi? Maybe because we're just human. We keep on trying and trying, wondering why something happen, and just trying to hold on with everything that's left behind.
Apakah pernikahan itu menjadi sebuah rutinitas dalam hidup? Yes, definitely yes. Kita melakukannya selama bertahun-tahun, hari demi hari melakukan hal yang sama, dan menjadi semakin baik dalam melakukan rutinitas tersebut. Tapi apakah rutinitas itu sendiri buruk?
Setiap ada masalah, beberapa hal yang saya selalu coba ingat bagaimana saya dulu menyukai dia, alasan saya merasa cocok dengan dia, walaupun kadang hal tersebut seperti pembenaran yang semu. Seperti kabut yang lewat, dan kemudian ditiup angin dan menghilang.
Saya salut sekali dengan orangtua jaman dahulu yang bisa bertahan dalam pernikahan begitu lama, bisa menahan dan menekan emosi sedemikian rupa sehingga tidak semua hal harus dipertengkarkan. Mungkin saya salah satu produk feminisme yang merasa bahwa setiap hal atau ide dalam kepala saya harus saya bicarakan, harus dihargai dan di semangati juga dalam waktu yang bersamaan.
Saya tidak tahu apakah pernikahan saya akan berjalan berapa lama, bukan berarti saya merencanakan perceraian dalam waktu dekat ini, definitely not. Saya rasa kami berdua masih harus menggali lebih dalam lagi, because people change whether you ask for it or not. Saya waktu menikah, tidak sama dengan saya yang sekarang, itu adalah hal yang pasti. Saya pun yakin, suami yang saya nikahi tidak sama dengan suami saya sekarang. Ada beberapa value yang tetap sama, tapi ada beberapa hal yang berbeda, baik saya sadari maupun tidak saya sadari. Bahkan ada beberapa hal yang lebih baik, although I can't say not everything turns out well.
Semoga nilai yang kami sepakati selama ini dapat terus kami pertahankan, membesarkan anak-anak sesuai dengan karakter terbaik mereka, tanpa harus merubah karakter kami masing-masing. Hidup tak akan menarik tanpa warna.

Review - Paperboy

Di hari long weekend kemarin, karena anak dan suami sedang sakit akhirnya saya memutuskan untuk menonton film. Dari berbagai film yang saya miliki, akhirnya saya memutuskan untuk menonton The Paperboy, sebab utamanya karena ada Zac Efron dalam film itu. Yes, guilty as charged, I adore his beauty :P.
Anyway, film ini berkisah tentang 2 kakak beradik yaitu Zac Efron dan Matthew Mccoughnahey (Jack Jansen & Ward Jansen) yang menyelidiki mengenai pembunuhan seorang perwira polisi. Film ini juga dibintangi oleh Nicole Kidman yang berperan sebagai Charlotte Bless seorang, perempuan yang selalu bermake-up tebal dan berpakaian seksi.
Alurnya sedikit membingungkan di awal, dan banyak sekali kejutan disana sini. Namun film ini cukup brutal baik dari segi seksualitas maupun kekerasan. Filmnya pun tidak saya nikmati dengan baik dari segi cerita, namun saya menyukai kemasan Zac Efron yang banyak menggunakan pakaian dalamnya dalam 40 menit pertama XD. He's so damn hot!!
Anyway, saya memberikan nilai 6/10 untuk film ini. Kalau ingin mengetahui kisah lengkapnya silahkan ditonton filmnya.

Review Fire with Fire

Film yang baru saja saya selesaikan tadi malam ini, setelah beberapa kali terpotong karena banyak hal, berikut saya berikan reviewnya.

Film ini di bintangi Josh Duhamel (Jeremy), Rosario Dawson (Talia) dan Bruce Willis (Det. Mike Cella). Cerita bermula dengan pekerjaan Jeremy sebagai pemadam kebakaran, dan kejadian pembunuhan yang membawa Jeremy sebagai saksi mata pada pembunuhan tersebut. Dan seperti film action lainnya, kisahnya banyak menuturkan bagaimana si jagoan yang tertindas akhirnya bangkit dan melawan kembali kekuasaan si penjahat. 

Saya harus mengacungi jempol untuk akting si penjahat dalam film ini, diperankan oleh Vincent d'onofrio (David Hagan), seseorang yang tinggi besar, sadistis, benar-benar tidak menunjukkan emosi setiap kali dia menghabisi orang lain. Apabila Anda tipe orang yang takut dengan pertumpahan dan kekerasan, saya tidak sarankan Anda menonton film ini. Film ini penuh dengan kekejaman, pemotongan tangan ada, penembakan tepat di dahi dan peluru tembus ke belakang ada, benar-benar penuh kekerasan.

Tapi overall, saya kurang suka dengan jalan ceritanya. Saya merasa juga Rosario Dawson kurang klop dipasangkan dengan josh duhamel, entah alasan apa di belakangnya makanya mereka dipasangkan, tapi saya tidak merasakan chemistrynya. Apabila Zoe Saldana mungkin lebih pas, atau saya merasa dia lebih cantik? hehehhehe....

Anyway saya rate film ini 6/10.
