Review - The Fault in Our Stars

I don't know why, but I got this feeling that I have to watch this movie.
So, I watched it yesterday. In conclusion, a romantic yet sad movie. It doesn't give you that tons of romantic feeling pouring in your heart, it just give you such calmness and tries to absorb all the messages.
Based on a book by John Green with the same title, I really have no idea about the book, but I can tell you my view about the movie.
Starred by Shailene Woodley as Hazel Grace, Ansel Elgort as Augustus Waters, Willem Dafoe as Peter Van Houten.
The question in the movie is what should I do before I die? when death seems close and just a step ahead?
Hazel Grace has cancer that caused her lungs filled with water and made her difficult to breath. She's a beautiful and very tall girl, that brings oxygen tube everywhere she goes. It's mandatory for her to bring it along.
One day, doctor ask her to join the support group to meet other people that has the similar problem like her. The support group is filled with people who had different kind of cancer, that's when she met augustus waters. An 18 year old boy, who filled with so much energy and positivity. He's like a torch in the dark.
Their relationship grew from friendship to eventually love. Well, if you're going to die tomorrow you might as well enjoy the day in a grand way right?? They went to Amsterdam together, enjoy dinner in a fancy place and met Hazel's favorite author named Peter Van Houten, who turns to be an alcoholic.
So, where's the sad part? The sad part is when you see two people in love, they struggle for so many years and so many times, facing death more than a hundred times. Hospital is like their second home. There's even a scene where nurse will ask : from scale 1-10, how much it hurts? I guess its not only hurting the patient, but also hurting all your surroundings. How could parents just have to face their children died? How could you face your loved ones died in your very eyes? The pain is just inevitable and demand to be felt.
Hazel and Augustus know that their love won't last forever, but they are brave enough to take the chances and feel the pain. As they say, to enjoy the rainbow you have to stand in the rain.
The movie also tells us to be strong in any situation you have to be, and just do what you want to do cause life is so short that time will runs out in just seconds. Maybe if the movie is happy ending, the essence will be so much different then they are now.
This movie is beautiful with its simplicity, hazel's eyes sparks every time she speaks, augustus energy could be felt to your bones and surely the pain is like the main menu to be enjoyed.
I give this movie 4/5 stars and surely will find the book to compare the pain.

Review - Chef

A great comedy! Life lesson in 115 minutes.
Starred by Jon Favreau as Carl Casper, Robert Downey Jr. as Marvin, Scarlet Johansson as Molly, and Sofia Vergara as Inez.

Carl Casper is a Chef, a great chef with so much talent and innovation. He got caught in a place, where innovation is a disadvantage. His boss is a safety player and afraid that innovation will ruin his restaurant.
One day, a food critics is coming to the restaurant to give reviews. The food critics is so famous that he got 10 mil USD when he sells his website. Casper's team all prepared for the meal and tries their best serving the food.

When the review came out, it was far from their expectations. Yup, an ugly review about the food and the chef that creates it. What Casper didn't know that the review got viral on the Social Media. As an old school guy, he's no into the technology section and everything that relates to it. Luckily, he got a son that could teach him all that stuff. One day, he accidentally tweet something that led to tweetwar and it made him loose his job.

Inez, is Casper's ex wife. They kept on becoming good friends even when they are separated. Tries to help Casper, she persuade him to sell his food on a food truck. Nowhere to go, Casper finally agreed and create his foodtruck, helped by his old team and his son Percy. Like any other divorce situation, percy is the victim of the situation. He kept on asking for attention, but Casper never realize it.

Comedy, Food and Relationship in one place. A lesson to keep your the "real" you and never give up, even when it seems like you screw everything. I never get bored in every seconds of this movie. Enjoy Sofia Vergara's amazing body and imagining myself to have a body like that! I don't even bothered with her accent :)! This movie is just fun to watch and relaxing at the same time.

Hope you could enjoy the movie as much as I do, I give this movie 4/5 stars!

Review - Noah

After weeks not writing in this blog, I finally had a time to fill it in with this grand movie that you all might had know it before. The movie is Noah, a simple title from the prophet Noah. Whether you're a moslem or christian, I believe you know all about the prophet.
Not far from the story told in the bible, this movie told about faith and problem occur between human and the creator. The story started how human was thrown away from eden and live on earth. After they were thrown away to the earth, some of the angels that fell sorry for the human follow them to the earth. The angels was punished by the creator and made them into stones.
Noah is just an ordinary man, who had a family with three sons, Sam, Ham and Jafet. His wife, was a faithful wife and follow him everywhere. One day, he had a dream, a premonition told by the creator, that one day the earth will be filled with water. So, he and his family started to build a ship, helped by the fallen angels.
Russel Crowe as Noah is no doubt, played his role in a remarkable way. As a viewer, sometimes I feel sorry for him, sometimes I get angry since he always follow the "right" way, he is the best actor for this movie. Jennifer Connelly played as Noah's wife, something bother me in watching her appearance, it seems she never gets old no matter how many years she spent in poverty and troublesome :). I think she had botox while playing the movie :). The other actors that plays quite a role in this movie is Emma Watson as Lia. A girl who was found injured, on the way Noah's family heads to the land of the fallen angels.

Could you imagine someone is building an ark? It takes so many years for building one, the scene was great. The ark doesn't look perfect or grand, it's just an ark made of woods, looks like a long cube. Darren aronofsky as the director, show this very well. There is nothing grand in this movie. It shows humbleness, Noah is not trying to show everybody his creation, he just create. Signs of faithfulness of his creator. He talks and ask the creator in any kinds of action he was trying to do. Compare to me, I'm nothing more than a dust of faithfulness.

The movie climax is when Lia is trying to deliver her baby, while Noah tries to kill it. It's like a great dilemma. We could feel how painful it is for Lia while carrying the baby and knows it well end up dead, since she has defies the rules from the creator. In the other hand, Noah's wife sees its just a way to carry their descendants, since all human being in the world is vanished. So, what happen? What about the other two children Noah had? They all have their own stories.

Its a great movie, best special effect, and great stories. It brings you new perspective about how the world runs. There's no overdoing during the whole movie, it's just a simple story about human faith to his creator. Why the creator decide to vanish all of his creations? I guess we could see the hints in this movie. But, will it ever happen again? The creator has promised that this will never happen again, and hopefully never happen again.

The movie ended with Noahs guilt, and how he got drunk and finally get naked in the sea. A remorse of a human being in how he could not complete his task. One of the best movie this year, I give it 4,5/5 stars!
