Review - The Fault in Our Stars

I don't know why, but I got this feeling that I have to watch this movie.
So, I watched it yesterday. In conclusion, a romantic yet sad movie. It doesn't give you that tons of romantic feeling pouring in your heart, it just give you such calmness and tries to absorb all the messages.
Based on a book by John Green with the same title, I really have no idea about the book, but I can tell you my view about the movie.
Starred by Shailene Woodley as Hazel Grace, Ansel Elgort as Augustus Waters, Willem Dafoe as Peter Van Houten.
The question in the movie is what should I do before I die? when death seems close and just a step ahead?
Hazel Grace has cancer that caused her lungs filled with water and made her difficult to breath. She's a beautiful and very tall girl, that brings oxygen tube everywhere she goes. It's mandatory for her to bring it along.
One day, doctor ask her to join the support group to meet other people that has the similar problem like her. The support group is filled with people who had different kind of cancer, that's when she met augustus waters. An 18 year old boy, who filled with so much energy and positivity. He's like a torch in the dark.
Their relationship grew from friendship to eventually love. Well, if you're going to die tomorrow you might as well enjoy the day in a grand way right?? They went to Amsterdam together, enjoy dinner in a fancy place and met Hazel's favorite author named Peter Van Houten, who turns to be an alcoholic.
So, where's the sad part? The sad part is when you see two people in love, they struggle for so many years and so many times, facing death more than a hundred times. Hospital is like their second home. There's even a scene where nurse will ask : from scale 1-10, how much it hurts? I guess its not only hurting the patient, but also hurting all your surroundings. How could parents just have to face their children died? How could you face your loved ones died in your very eyes? The pain is just inevitable and demand to be felt.
Hazel and Augustus know that their love won't last forever, but they are brave enough to take the chances and feel the pain. As they say, to enjoy the rainbow you have to stand in the rain.
The movie also tells us to be strong in any situation you have to be, and just do what you want to do cause life is so short that time will runs out in just seconds. Maybe if the movie is happy ending, the essence will be so much different then they are now.
This movie is beautiful with its simplicity, hazel's eyes sparks every time she speaks, augustus energy could be felt to your bones and surely the pain is like the main menu to be enjoyed.
I give this movie 4/5 stars and surely will find the book to compare the pain.
